Bahama O's Fan
We have gone from a bad team to a good team. The challenge is now to go from a good team to a grea team. The offense hit a wall late in the season and the pitchers were hitting their inning highs from previous years and going past them. We just couldn't sustain a full season plus an offseason. I guess that is what happens when you have a bunch of young guys experiencing their 1st, 2nd or 3rd MLB season. I assume the experience is going to help next season. Here's what I think we need. 1. A reliable veteran bat that teams fear. I don't care what position he plays, we are flexible enough to fit him in somewhere (except catcher). We just need a guy that isn't super streaky like alot of our batters and the guy other teams want to pitch around. The one guy that they say "Don't let him beat us" 2. A reliable veteran starter that can be a stopper. The guy that you know what you're getting almost every time. The player that has logged alot innings and his arm isn't going to fall off late in the season. What do you think? What are your wants? IPlayGM
I think those two things cumulatively are going to be very expensive.
One eyed Bird
1-The team sold and the scum bag Angelos clan has 0 percent ownership 2- new ownership gives Mike a lifetime contract and an actual MLB budget to work with Edited November 5, 2023 by One eyed Bird

Oh, I agree, but it's time to spend and not on just arbitration for our players. We are a good team, the window is open, do it now!

Good luck. We a development team and depend deeply on finding the unexpected contributors-the Canos, the Coulombes, the O’Hearns , Hicks etc . So successful seasons will depend on how unexpectedly fast and far our prospects take us and whether we luck out with the value signings. We may upgrade the veteran starter a bit from Gibson or maybe sign him again. Hard to see us signing Sonny Gray but perhaps. We may trade some prospects for a Cease or Bieber type ..maybe but I doubt it. Can’t think of any bat like that available except Ohtani and we are not signing him. A signing like Nelson Cruz before 2014 would help but not sure who that might be. Edited November 5, 2023 by tntoriole
Frobby
My offseason wants are (1) a lot of alcohol, and (2) a long trip to someplace warm. And, for the offseason to be over. 1

Bahama O's Fan
Remember, free agency isn't the only way to get these. We are more stacked to make a big trade than ever before.

A TOR Pitcher and a MOO bat esp RBI if not Batting Ave. The Payroll is still relatively low so this should be doable if they choose to do it. As I said some time ago, would be a Crime not to follow thru on a 100+ Win season. I know Elias knows this, if he is allowed to let it happen by the Owner. After all how many teams have this opportunity to follow up on a 100+ Win season? Only a few.
oriole
I’m gonna be honest, there’s absolutely no where for a big bat to be added. The only spots that are anywhere near being open are 1B and CF…if they acquired a good 1B then you’d certainly have to trade Mountcastle/O’Hearn/Mayo. If they got a CF then it’s unlikely they’re going to be a better center fielder than Mullins so the offense has better be significantly better. Pitching is a whole other thing. If they made a single trade/signing this offseason and it was for a top starter, I’d call it a wildly successful offseason. But that’s not what we’ll get…Irvin level moves is the best we can expect realistically.
HakunaSakata
We don't need a veteran bat. In fact, that's the exact opposite of where this teams needs to focus their spending. Our farm system is absolutely stacked with bats and we're to the point where you either have to play or trade some of these guys. I think it's also reasonable to assume that our younger players who are already at the MLB level will continue to improve. Despite what happened in the playoffs I don't think scoring runs for this team is going to be a problem. Any money we spend should be focused on improving the starting pitching and bullpen. Those are MUCH bigger holes and and we don't have obvious candidates to plug them in our minor league system.

Can you imagine if we had gotten that one reliable hitter, a J. D. Martinez type? I would have loved him in the DH spot yesterday over Adley.
