It probably his .480 ops vs lefties or his .520 ops batting leadoff this year.  I honestly have no idea why this guy is on the team.  I would have rather had Pache if you wanted a right handed center fielder.

If they bought this years numbers over his career why did they acquire him?

I always enjoy using two roster slots instead of one.

And if another left handed pitcher comes in after that?

What other player is he blocking? Every team has platoon players.

I guess it’s an out. Plus if you have an advantage for 3 at bats of 4 instead of one of 4 is that a bad thing?

Slater will be pinch hit for as soon as a righty comes in

Elias and Hyde's obsession with platooning is stupid. There's no need to do it when you have more talented players that don't need to be platooned at your disposal.

Kjerstad should have been given a chance to start every day the first time he was called up months ago. Instead, he was railroaded multiple times and we're forced to watch Elias and Hyde jam scrubs like Slater and Eloy into the starting lineup, continuing their tradition of sticking with terrible players like Odor, Frazier, and Mateo for way too long.

Why … they are comparatively bad. Pache is a poor hitter consistently over 4 seasons

They platoon because it works. Slater isn’t blocking Kjerstad, Santander is.

I don’t mind complaining…. I do it.

I mind the idea that there is no logic behind what they do. Slater may stink. I don’t know. You aren’t keeping Kjerstad to be an extra OF when you want to rest a LH bat. It’s common sense.

You have a 4 man bench.
McCann

Jimenez

Urias

Slater

It’s almost as if you want your bench players to have different skill sets than your regulars.

Kjerstadt doesn’t seem to be healthy.  He still has not played since Monday even since being sent down to Norfolk.  I think there is some lingering effects from getting hit in head.

He doesn’t fit right now is the bottom line. Cowser is hot. They aren’t sitting O’Hearn.

As you mentioned he has had some bad luck. He was doing well then gets beaned. Cowser and Mullins step up.
