Craig Kimbrel 2024

His pitches come from a weird angle.  There’s really nobody with a delivery quite like Kimbrel’s.  He gets a lot of takes on strikes in the zone, and a lot of swings at pitches out of the zone.  Hitters just don’t see him well.

I’m not sure the hitters are so befuddled anymore. When he gets in trouble these days he walks/hits a couple then has a pitch that transits the middle of the zone get crushed. Perhaps he has become more like every pitcher who, as Palmer would say, needs to get to two strikes to be effective.

Kimbrel’s numbers seem on par with his career norms and usually an ASG bid. Maybe he goes because of injury. He did get the save in last year’s game. I bet he won’t mind the rest, but this doesn’t help his HOF bid. 10x all star sound much better than 9.

HOF?,Dont think he has anything to worry about.

Kimbrel blew another 1 run save today and while he can’t walk the 8th and 9th hitter, I really feel like some of that was Hyde’s fault.

I was listening to the game on the radio and they were saying not only had Kimbrel not pitched in a week, he hadn’t even warmed up.

That can’t happen.  Hyde needed to get him into a game to get some work.

Yea giving up the 3 runs was really bad but it’s not surprising he settled down and got the next 3 guys out.  He started to settle in a bit and was a little less rusty.

It’s a shame too..in the last 2 months, he had given up 1 run, batters were 6-68 against him and he had given up 1 extra base hit.

Just a bad time to give it up but with the amount of rust he had, I can’t say it’s surprising.

Hyde needs to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Please, Kimbrel has been in the league since 2010 he should be able to keep himself in a state to compete.

But yea, when he doesn't pitch like crap he pitches pretty well...just like everyone else.

His record in one run saves is abysmal.

Funny that Holmes got put on the ASG squad ahead of Kimbrel, and then both of them blew saves today.  Holmes was betrayed by his defense but he also walked a couple of guys to put himself in danger.

It seems to me that Kimbrel's blown saves all follow the same pattern.  He can't throw strikes, he walks a couple of people and then he grooves a get me over pitch that gets hit hard.

Kimbrel last pitched 7/7. I get not using him all of the time, but a week off for a reliever is a long friggen time with no game action.

Agree, Hyde should have gotten him into a game somewhere to keep him fresh.

I’m sure Hyde wanted Kimbrel to get a good bit of rest after pitching in 4 of 6 games on the road trip.  Still, I agree he probably  should have gotten him into a game on Thursday or Friday.  Not an easy call though because you don’t want to use him and then he’s got to come in the next day in a tight spot and then he’s unavailable the third day.  You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

It looked like Kimbrel was close to the front of the pack that sprinted out to Mullins at second base and was as excited as anyone. That had to have been a tremendous relief for him after that homer...lol.

He can pitch back to back days
