The best thing about this year's trade deadline is that we have owners who are willing to increase payroll and they're giving the front office the support they need to make good deals for talent.

We don't know that.

One of these statements is clearly true. The other is patently false.

I dont think you piled on. Its a fact unless Adley is injured, Dont think youre going to McCann at all.

I’d like to think it’s a fact, but I don’t put it past Hyder to get his lineup against LH in a playoff game.

Sounds like we have a lot of interest in Snell

Very exciting. I hope the delay is just working on the money. Maybe the Giants will pay the deferred money. Putting the Orioles on the hook for roughly 10-12 million this year and his option next year.

I'm talking myself into this, to my chagrin. Assuming a decent-to-good second half, do you think he'll opt out?

100% opt out if he’s good And healthy.

I wouldn’t put it at 100%. Last year he was by far the best pitcher on the market and could only secure 2 years 60. This year he is number 3 on the market but I do believe there will be more buyers. I do not think a long term deal will be available for him but maybe 3@80.

He won’t get the AAV he wants but he will definitely get more guaranteed money than what he has coming to him in 2025.

There is some extra value in bringing him here as we see if he wants to be an Oriole. The deal you suggest is perhaps something that’s more likely to get him signed if he wants to be here based off of his experience with the org.

The Cubs surprise Buy yesterday I guess makes the optics for the Giants a little worse if they offload Snell.

Giants 2 under to the Cubs 5 under as play begins today.

Nate Eovaldi throws Texas' final game in St. Louis tonight for the last game Chris Young gets a view of following the champions' stumble in Toronto this weekend.

I’ve been a little underwhelmed about the return for most of these trades. Seems to be a fair market which I had my doubts. Hoping we end up with Snell and Fairbanks type to cap this off. Yesterday was complete evidence we need more pitching.

    • Do you know any of the circumstances behind him doing this?
    • Not a believer that he’ll be an .800 type of hitter?
    • Get over it.  Unless you haven't noticed, Coby did not hit when given his chances.  You're acting like he's delivering positive results.  Newsflash, He's not.  Lineups are not designed with man-crushes in mind.
    • I think you are just illustrating e16bball’s point about being weary of the “#veteronosity” narrative.  The flip side of “veteronisity” is “prospect brain” and “all homegrown lineup fantasies”.  I agree that Mayo should either play more or be in Norfolk.  However, to argue that our problems this year stem from playing O’Hearn too much doesn’t make any sense to me. You cherry pick two half seasons where he was still an above average hitter. And his underlying peripherals are more favorable than the results. Rivera is a plus defensive third basemen that can give you league average or better at bats vs lefties.  Jimenez once ranked higher as a prospect than Kjerstad or Mayo ever did. Obviously the shine has come off and he is one dimensional but there is likely still value to be unlocked in his bat. Role players are important. Hyde has played young players (Holliday, Cowser, etc.) a ton. Many of those young players are struggling.  Blaming #veteronisity seems misplaced.
    • Is this a good teammate?  Heston got his three at-bats last night, was replaced, and then before the 8th inning, heads to the clubhouse, and is gone from the parking lot before the game is over.  I don't know, but I don't feel like that's cool.  Hanging out with the team in the dugout until the end of the game would be the right thing to do, in my mind.  I mean, that's what I'd do.  Am I too harsh saying this?  Is he really that "special" that it's okay?
    • They have a 99% chance of making the playoffs. They are in the perfect opportunity to give him at bats. Playing Mayo over a journeyman scrub like Rivera or someone like Eloy is not going to make a difference.
    • maybe he "could", but maybe he won't.  There's a lot of players - like Mayo - who could, but likely won't.  At least this year.  I love our prospects too, but let's be realistic with what we're seeing.  These guys are way more challenged up here than many would like to admit.
