That was a perfect example of why exit velocity doesn't mean all that much. It's about where the defenders are and aren't.

I wish I’d have more faith but this lineup looked abysmal yesterday aside from Rivera and Holliday. The top of the lineup desperately needs to remember how to hit again. They’ve been sputtering.

I know we live in an age where slugging and OBP matter more, but it’s mighty telling that nobody on this team is even remotely close to sniffing 300.

Overall the results, over time, are superior for balls with a higher exit velocity.
