Yeah, I don't personally see much reason to swap out Santander for Hernandez at the end of the day, but I don't actually want to sign either guy so...

id be all in on Teoscar, but the contract is probably massive. The only other guy on the list is O’Neal. If you are looking at the other I think you bring back Santander.

Yep …. So I’m not liking the options. Might as well resign Santander if he comes at a hometown discount. I’m betting he’d do it to remain. 
 

O’Neils D-War was -.5 so maybe he’d be an acceptable option.

The time to get Santander on a hometown discount was before he became a free agent.  I think you're going to be disappointed.

If Nootbar is available I would go after him. He’s a lefty but hits lefties almost as well as righties. Pretty good OF defense and his offensive skillset is much needed. He’s like 2022-2023 Rutschman with a few more K’s.

A guy I really like is McCarthy in Arizona but he’s a lefty, so that doesn’t really solve our problem.

Right handed OFers that play good CF defense are really not readily available around the league.

If you just need a 4th OFer type guy, that’s a little easier to find.  If you need an everyday guy (because you traded Kjerstad or Mullins), it may be smarter to trade for a ML ready prospect.  Maybe some of your vets can get you that.

The problem there, of course, is that you are relying on another young, inexperienced player. 

Good post. Pretty much sums up are current situation.

This list of RHH FA OF isn’t exciting, but we are just filling a role player/bench spot.  I don’t think Elias will spend any significant resources in the offseason to do that.  So bringing back Slater or McKenna or milb deals might be an option.  Maybe Pache on a waiver claim, or a small trade for Conner Joe from Pittsburgh?

I don’t think it’s going to be a splashy move.  We’re lefty dominant right now with Mullins, Cowser, and Kjerstad.  Heck, even Beavers and EBJ in the minors.

My prediction is that we want the 3 LH OF playing everyday vs RHP, so we just need a bench platoon guy.  That’s Slater and maybe we bring Pache back.  We seem to like Pache.

This is most likely Santander's only shot at a big payday and somebody is almost certainly going to offer it to him. There's zero reason for him to give anyone a discount.
