But, things are going to be different because John Hart and Buck are in charge now!!!

Well that's if Hart replaces MacPhail...

And if they don't sign Fielder or find an equivalent, I'm done. No pitchforks, no torches. They won't be worth it.

I'm done killing myself over this team.

That has nothing to do with this. As far as I'm concerned, he was the final 10% of the deal. He's a flier. But nobody was against the acquisition because they thought he had a torn labrum, or was an injury risk in general.
But when you mention things like cursed and bad luck, everything needs to be looked at, including the trade that brought him here.

So glad we went after a ML ready guy instead of a solid prospect who is maybe a few years away.

The Orioles "intelligence" strikes again!

Because, you know, prospects never get injured.

Come on SG, you'd ridicule someone else for the logic you display in this post.

You should stop now. Why continue to do this to yourself if the end result is you being done anyway?

Concentrate on the Niners.

By the way, I'm not posting this to try and belittle anyone in any way, shape or form. Not trying to make anyone feel bad about themselves or their agendas.

Just trying to educate.

The Baltimore Orioles have absolutely zero chance at landing Prince Fielder this winter. They have a better shot at digging up Babe Ruth's corpse and somehow recreating a new Babe Ruth with the DNA of the corpse and then signing the re-incarnated in his prime Ruth to a deal that would have been reasonable in 1928, then putting him in the 4 slot.

Well now at least we can get a good look at reynolds at 1b where his d appears to be much better than 3b. And maybe we'll even get a good look at bell so we can move on this off season and stop wondering if he can be a regular.

I'm holding out some hope. And the Niners will be getting a lot of my focus soon...

There is a chance albeit a tiny one that Peter Angelos will return the presents and tree to Orioleville.

Yep. Nothing at all to do with this. This was either bad luck or a poor job conducting the physical, but has nothing whatsoever to do with the thought process involved in making the trade.

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is headed to the disabled list to make room for tonight's starter, Brian Matusz, on the active roster.

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said Davis has a small tear in his right shoulder. He'll see renowned orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum on Thursday and likely won't play for the rest of the season

All the Labrum tears are small anymore.

Boy, the news keeps getting better for this team. Hopefully the shoulder tear isnt something that is a longterm problem.

All the new age labrum tears are small.

Sure, if we're still talking about curses. :P

But the injury doesn't make the trade any more or less stupid (I liked it).

Just curious. Other than the Brewers, just who do you think WILL sign Prince Fielder?

I think the Nationals are the favorites.

Rizzo loves Boras guys and Fielder added to Zimmerman, Werth, Harper and Rendon would be one heck of an offense.

    • As of today, we have 3 lefties in the OF. He will have plenty of at bats here.  I wouldn't start him everyday persay but 350-450 at bats will be fine.
    • For me, he’d be the 4th outfielder so he’d likely have to do both. He could spell all three of Mullins/Cowser/Kjerstad at any given time. I would argue positionally a RH OF might be out biggest need in fact, so if not O’Neil, someone else of that ilk.
    • I would consider adding Tommy Pham in our McKenna/Slater role......he's a better bat and it pretty much guarantees that we'll be in the playoffs again.  He always gets there. Yes, I'm serious.
    • Alonso would be the worst possible signing for us. All he does is hit for power, and even that might be waning, even before you stick him in Oriole Park with that LF wall. That is the hardest of passes.    Martinez is very meh. That dude is going to fall off a cliff at some point soon, I’d rather it not be while the Os are paying him.    Could get on board with O’Neill for sure, if the price is reasonable. Major upgrade over the Slater/Hays combo from 2024, if he could stay healthy.
    • So, you would be okay putting him in left field, or a you thinking of him platooning in right with Kjerstad?
    • A lot of good stuff here: https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/10/07/mlb-orioles-rubenstein I particularly like the following quote: “I’ve written some big checks for Carlyle over the years, so we’ve put alot of money into deals and it’s not like I’m going to have a shock at the size of the dollars that might be involved,” he said. “The trick is getting the opportunity to do that.”
    • Lot of great crowds at these games so far in fact (throwing stuff onto the field notwithstanding). Yankees crowd I must begrudgingly admit was pretty raucous you could hear drum beats, maybe the occasional horn, in addition to their usual annoying chanting and sound effects. Phillies always have great crowds. SD and LA turning it up a notch. Detroit and Mets and KC will almost certainly add to that list shortly. Makes it that much more fun to watch.
