Yeah I don't know what it's all about, but SOMETHING happened that I wish I knew. Good GMs don't just disappear for 10 years without so much as an interview, shoot, BAD GMs get interviews more often than that.

Well this would explain a lot if it were true.

Why not? It was the 90's, everyone was using them. May as well make sure they're using them right.

Considering that the game is supposedly "cleaner" now, maybe hiring Duquette to teach our players steroid use wouldn't be such a bad idea! Imagine, the O's will be able to embrace the halcyon days of the late 90's while everyone else is worrying about pitching and defense! PED's are the new market inefficiency!!!

Duquette, the Dalton native who was the Red Sox general manager from 1994-2002, could not be reached for comment Thursday night.

"He's got a pretty darn good track record," said Duquette's cousin Jim, who once worked for the Orioles and now works for MLB.com and Sirius XM Radio. "He has a track record of turning organizations around and building them from the ground up."

Paul Ricciarini of Pittsfield is a pro scout with the Houston Astros and has worked for numerous teams including Toronto, Atlanta and the New York Mets. He believes that Duquette and the Orioles would be a fit.

"Absolutely. It's not only his skill set, it's the intangibles he has," Ricciarini said in a phone interview Thursday night. "He's somehow been able to keep up. He can relate to the demands of today's players."

Once a GM always a GM? Who knows the AL East better than Duquette and who would like to put it to the Red Sox Nation and Yankees more than DD? Trading for Pedro? Buck getting Johnson while at Arizona? Do you think they know what having a #1 pitcher can do for your team? I think he will add credibility to the team and can step right in with Buck and start negotiating with free agents and finalize those deals Buck alluded to at the dinner recently. Stop the interviews and start signing FA'S and start dealing next week.
