In 1980, I saw the Mets pitcher successfully throw a Phillies runner out at the plate on a successful suicide squeeze.

This doesn't make sense. Both sides couldn't have been successful.

Unless the squeeze successfully scored 1 run, but then a second guy got thrown out?

I'm telling you I saw it, and it happened. Ralph Kiner was just as surprised as I was. He said it was the only time that he had ever seen it happen, and the same is/was true for me. The pitcher caught it on a bounce, threw to Stearns, and he was out.

But then it wasn't a "successful" squeeze bunt, which is how you described it.
