It would have been poor managing for O'Day to come in and give up a homer too. Especially with Chen rolling through the 7th like that! C'mon Buck, should have left him in!

Let's not get overdramatic. Chen didn't pitch that badly in the 8th. The leadoff walk was bad, but then he had a strikeout, a passed ball (which you can't blame Buck for), and a weakly hit grounder that flukily turned into a single.

With these expanding rosters, you can't get greedy with innings with starters anymore. use what you have!

Yes, it was bad luck Jennings scored, but that walk should have been it for Chen. How was the bullpen not warming to start that inning. Everyone in the park thought he would be done after that leadoff walk.

Chen was fine that inning. It was not the wrong decision to leave him in. Jennings worked a long walk, advances a couple of bases, then an infield hit. Its not like Buck left him and he got hit hard.

Same thing easily could have happened with a reliever.
