If you read Angelos's quotes (no specific compensation has been discussed) and Roch's stuff (O's have looked over Toronto's roster and system) you get the feeling that talks haven't gotten involved regarding compensation but that some in the O's organization believe it will come down to that. Now, if Angelos says "no way DD is leaving" then there must be some belief that MLB can make it happen without their consent.

Now that would be a HUGE law suit.

I don't see how that's relevant. The Orioles, for example, had no problem sending off locals L.J. Hoes and Josh Hader for Bud Norris.

I agree with the second point though, considering the Blue Jays outfield vacancies from Cabrera and Rasmus leaving.

Neither of them were top-50 prospects (and Hoes is from DC not the Baltimore area). Also, it would seem to me that Toronto has more of an interest in keeping Canadian players due to their positioning by Rogers as a national team. Pompey is the type of player that the Jays hope to build marketing campaigns around.

MLB and the Blue Jays obviously believe in the precedent. Angelos believes in the contract. Now, can MLB invoke "the best interests of baseball" or something else and just make this happen without Angelos's consent?
How does screwing over the Orioles operate in the "the best interests of baseball?"

That could have ramifications with the MASN dispute. The Angelos camp could make the contention that MLB was punishing the Orioles in retaliation for the lawsuit.

The Angelos family fills that position.

Its called restructuring. Ownership above the line. With the President and CEO reporting to ownership. John moves to ownership.

Look at the Tigers.

Peter is 85 year old. He may hold the reign for a while but his son is the heir apparent. Changing the responsibilities around is very doable.

WTF does that have to do with anything?

I don't want his heart anywhere near any deals he might make.

Heart is how you take Hobgood in the top 5 and extend Roberts.

The heart wants what the heart wants.

That is why it shouldn't be allowed near the negotiating table.

Or it's why you stay up late combing through winter league stats as opposed to just punching out and calling it quits at the end of business. As much as it sucks. This needs to happen and it needs to happen fast. Lets face it. DD is human. At what point does he become resentful. Even without it being noticeable. Your GM's heart has to be in it 24/7. Especially in baseball. Just let him go and get the most for him. We still have Buck. If we get Pompey the OF spots look pretty good for the future.
