Red Sox swing starter Brandon Workman got the dreaded second opinion from Dr James Andrews yesterday... but no surgery is scheduled yet and there is no definitive time table for his return. Workman was sent to AAA and had to be recalled to the majors just so he could be put on the 15-day DL.

The Washington Nationals take a hit to their bullpen, as Craig Stammen needs surgery for a torn flexor tendon. He's likely gone for the season.

Chris Capuano is still on the 15-day, but he is expected to miss another month for the Yankees with a bad quad.

Arizona - added David Hernandez, recovering from TJ, likely back in May.

Chicago - 3B Mike Olt is "expected to begin rehab in 3-4 weeks" with a broken wrist.

Houston - Brad Peacock made one appearance before going back on the DL.

Tampa - reliever Jeff Beliveau is out for at least a month with a bad shoulder.

Lots of updates. In addition to the two names Crazysilver mentioned (Zobrist is out 4-6 weeks not months):

Arizona - C Gerald Laird is down with a bad back and 3B Jake Lamb is out with a stress reaction in his foot.

Atlanta - reliever Andrew McKirahan is the latest to get popped for PEDs (Ipamorelin).

Baltimore - added Jonathan Schoop. Matt Wieters continue to not have a time table.

Chicago (NL) - RP Jacob Turner was transferred to the 60 day with a flexor strain.

Milwaukee - 2014 MVP contenter Jonathan Lucroy is out 4-6 weeks after fouling a ball off his foot. Big loss for the Brewers.

New York (NL) - add C Travis D'Arnaud (broken pinky) and RP Jerry Blevins (fractured arm) to the Mets' MASH unit.

Pittsburgh - SP Charlie Morton is expected to return June 1 from a hip injury.

Seattle - big loss as SP Hisashi Iwakuma goes down 4-6 weeks with a strained lat.

Tampa Bay - 2B Ryan Brett is expected to lose a month with a bum shoulder. Meanwhile Jeff Beliveau is out for the year.

Washington - LF Nate McLouth had a setback on his recovery and is likely out for a month.

The catcher list is really starting to grow now, leading the pack in severely injured position players. Some big names are on the list, and I haven't added Wieters yet.

- Added two more names from injury-riddled Texas, SP Nick Tepesch (elbow) and LF Ryan Rua (ankle), neither of which will come off the DL soon.

- Tampa Bay is also suffering quite a bit. DH John Jaso's rehab is taking longer than expected, as he "can't even lift a bat". 2B Nick Franklin, who has been out with an oblique since the start of the season, hasn't had a rehab game yet. At least Alex Cobb's rehab is going well and he may return to the rotation soon.

- It's not nearly the Wainright news, but St Louis RF Randal Grichuk's rehab (back) is going slowly and he likely will not come off the DL on May 2 as scheduled. Jaime Garcia meanwhile is throwing simulated games and the cards will need him to fill Wainright's rotation spot.

- Still no target date for Giants OF Hunter Pence (forearm), who has yet to play this year. He "may begin rehab assignment next week". Same with SP Matt Cain.

- Oakland reliever Sean Doolittle is progressing nicely from a torn rotator cuff in January but likely won't make it back until May.

- Dodgers pitchers Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) and Kenley Jansen (foot) are both targeting May return dates; neither have pitched this year.

- Josh Hamilton is going from the Angels to the Rangers, but it won't matter for now because he's targeting a June return date.

- With no timetable in hand, I added Arizona pitchers Patrick Corbin and Matt Stites to the list. Both have elbow issues.
