The D-Rays are off to a surprisingly good start this season.

They did themselves (and everybody else in the A.L. East) a big favor by taking 3 out of 4 games from the Yankees last week.

The Rays have overtaken the Yankees (who have lost 10 out of their last 11 games) for 1st place in the division.

Say goodbye to your consecutive scoreless earned runs streak, Chris.

The Orioles were the first to score an earned run off of you last month on Opening Day.

And, the Orioles have done it again.

After getting smacked around by the Orioles and the Rangers in back-to-back starts 3 and-a-half weeks ago, Archer is back on fire again.

In his 4 starts since, Archer has:

26.33 IP

19 H

4 R

4 BB

32 SO

94 Pitches (260 Strikes, 134 Balls)

1.37 ERA

0.874 WHIP

The surprising Tampa Bay Rays remain strong with a record of 40-30 almost halfway into the season.

They have won 8 out of their last 9 games, and appear to have withstood the loss of their longtime manager, Joe Maddon.

From MLBTR:
The Rays are in first place in the AL East despite paying almost $36MM of their $72MM Opening Day payroll to players who are either on the DL, in the minors or no longer with the organization.

To say that is remarkable would be quite the understatement.

(vs. METS, 8/07)

23,149 in attendance, and there were AT LEAST 12,000 of 13,000 Mets fans there, maybe more.

They were loud as hell, and they were going crazy for every Mets run scored, and when Familia got the final out in the bottom of the 9th.
