Because Masterson couldn't throw the ball over the plate. To me, as a general rule, get to 3-1 and then look for something specific.

They are in a classic funk. Mental errors all around and bad luck too (hitting hard balls straight at people). Meanwhile, the opponent can never do any wrong. This is a classic rut, which they will get out of. The problem is that they are losing ground in the division.

I don't have a problem with Davis swinging three and o. That ball could have been a double down the line if not for a good defensive play.

There's truth in that, but I just dislike their approach in a macro sense. They get themselves out entirely too much.
