If the runner is out at third, there are two outs, and the double play doesn't matter.

But that's a much riskier play, has to be the perfect throw. And in this case, it did not work out, and kudos to Hunter for taking 2B on that play. There is a big difference between 1st/3rd and 1 out and 2nd/3rd and 1 out. Instead of playing at double play depth, you have to bring the infield in.

Darren is such a good guy, and has been so great for us most of his time here, that it's hard to be mad at him for this. Not only that, but you just know he's going to find it again later. The timing of his struggles is REALLY unfortunate, but you know he's not doing it on purpose, and he'll probably pitch a scoreless inning sometime in this series, even.

I've seen Kershaw, Bumgarner, King Felix, Verlander, Mo Rivera all get shelled.... it happens to everyone.
