How do they miss that? Foot on bag never came off. MLB needs to tell people who the umps are in New York. Awful.

Please chime in on this thread that was started on an even worse call 4 weeks ago ...... also against the Yankees.

o

Yes, we won the game tonight.

I'm still not happy on what I believe to be an atrocious confirmation call on Jimmy Paredes' attempted stolen base in the 8th inning.

I was at the game, and saw multiple angles of the replay when Showalter challenged the call ...... and it appeared to me that it was as clear as day that Paredes was safe.

Even the Yankee fans that were sitting around me said that he was safe, and one of them yelled "That's home cooking" when the call was not overturned.

I am admittedly biased, but it feels to me like the Orioles have a long history of getting screwed on calls against the Yankees, dating back to 1993 when a 16 year-old Yankee fan from Connecticut (Tim McKenzie) reached over the railing in rightfield at Yankee Stadium in the 8th inning, taking the ball away from Mark McLemore and giving Don Mattingly a "home run" in what was a scoreless pitcher's duel up to that point.

The Yankees invited McKenzie into the Yankees' locker room the next day as a reward for what he did, and he got the ball signed by Don Mattingly, who had said that the kid "made a great catch" in the post-game interview the day before.

Yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing. I wonder if anyone has quantified the amount of time spent yakking about calls pre and post replay?

I'm with both of you. Earl would go out and argue longer than most replays take. And with video you get the call right. Did Earl EVER get one single call overturned on the field? Think about that.

Imagine Earl had replay existed back then. Would he have been out arguing after the replay call was made?

I saw his first Norfolk game. I still have the score card I kept.

I'm feeling nostalgic, too. Really angered that even though it's an MLB At Bat free game today, they're blocking me since I'm on the NC coast this week (O's viewing area). I am recording this at home on my DVR however.

I only got to see one game in person that he played in the minors. It was Frederick at Wilmington. That game included Wieters, Reimold, and our favorite Billy Rowell. Wieters was like 1 for 1 with 4 walks, 2 of them intentional. He was was promoted to Bowie like 2 weeks later. I was glad to see him play, but I remember the pitchers for Wilmington basically wanted nothing to do with him. His one hit was as single in the first, and he got nothing more to hit. It was cool, but wished I saw more. Post script to that game was it ended on a throwing error by Billy Rowell on a routine grounder to third with the bases loaded. Go ahead run scored on the errant throw home.
