(APRIL 28th)

Last night, Joey Rickard's 3-run home run in the top of the 5th inning saved the Orioles.

Other than they, they have really been struggling as of late.

1) Prior to last night's game, they scored 2 runs in the previous 3 games combined.

2) Including last night's game, they have scored 5 runs in the last 4 games combined.

3) With the exception of an 8-3 pasting of the Royals on April 23rd, the Orioles' offense had not scored at least 4 runs in a game since April 20th, against the Blue Jays. That's 6 out of the last 7 games in which the Orioles' offense has failed to score at least 4 runs in a game.

Last night marked 3rd time this month that the Orioles' starters in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots in the batting order each hit a home run in the same game.

The Orioles had never done that before, even twice in the same month ......or even 3 times in the same season.

This is the most interesting (and overdue) number of all those zeros, IMO.

Why did we sign Pedro Alvarez? Was it because of his fantastic defense? Well, his positions have been third and first base. I don't think he can outdo the incredible combination of Manny and Davis on the corners.

.

It still early, be patient.

Pedro isn't known for a hot starter.

Keep in mind, he has carrying teams before, and he isn't expected to carrying this team. There are several bigger bats ahead of him.

Pedro will hit, and that can provide additional production from this lineup.

IMO

Rodon on Reimold's homer

"Fastball away is what we were going for. Honestly, I thought he was going to bunt," Rodon said of Reimold. "But now that I think about, I remember going through the scouting report, and he's a guy that has good power the other way. And, sure enough, he showed it on that pitch."

Rickard might be a guy who'd bunt. But don't bunt if you have serious potential to hit for power, which Reimold does.

If Rickard had bunted the night before, The Os would not have won. Don't bunt. It's not the National league. If you can't hit, you don't play.

(vs. ATHLETICS, 5/08)

This was the 3rd time in club history (1954-Present) that the Orioles scored 10 or more runs in a game with all of the runs coming via the home run.

The other 2 times came in 1996 (a 12-8 win over the Mariners), and 2012 (a 12-2 win over the Blue jays.)
