Bordick and the Koolaid

Bordy's significantly better on the radio than on TV, based on what I heard while driving around yesterday. He pointed out a couple of times when O'Day missed his location during the Chisenhall AB but got away with it, and contrasted it with other pitches where O'Day did exactly what he wanted.

I've noticed the same thing with Bordick. It's similar to what Jim Hunter does, though not exactly the same since Bordick is strictly color commentary. On TV their eagerness seems to get the best of them and it gives the broadcast a "Gee whiz!" quality that I find annoying. But on radio, the responsibility of describing the action seems to reign them in a bit and they provide a much more engaging take on the game.

Bordick likes to heap praise on players who execute plays that would be considered routine or well within the ability of Major Leaguers.

Maybe it's me, but Bordick has been stronger of late. His analysis has been more crisp and he hasn't seemed syrupy sweet with praise.

I watch on MLB.tv and can overlay Joe when I can't take Bordick or Hunter.

Bordick, "Gallardo strong outing tonight in Frederick" 3 inning, 7 hits, 3 runs.. please explain how that is a strong outing? I know we want Gallardo to pitch and get inning, etc.. That's by far the most important thing, especially pain free....But, 3 inning, 7 hits and 3 runs is hardly strong when facing A League players.. Good grief.

His only purpose is to shill for the Orioles, the major leaguers and prospects. Probably a good coach though...they should keep him out of the broadcast booth.

I turn the TV sound off and listen to the radio, even though the radio is about 10 seconds ahead.......doesn't hurt as bad knowing what "happened"......LOL
