At least Manny didn't get hurt there. Ubaldo needs a trip to the DL to get his mechanics right and make a couple rehab starts. He's lost.

So we let ubaldo do whatever he wants with his windup to start the year. But meanwhile take Bundy's cutter away. That's smart.

If he hasn't gotten them right by now, it's unlikely he ever will especially if he really is resistant to change.

No, one pitcher cannot get multiple blown saves in one game. A team can, but not a player.

Save situation is based on the game situation when a pitcher comes in. Once Kimberly blew the save in the 8th, he could not blow another save in the 9th. If he had pitched a 1-2-3 9th after Boston had scored in the top of the 9th, he would have gotten a win, not a save. So he wasn't given a BS for the 9th...he got one for the 8th and that is it.

I said the same earlier but riddle me this.

Right handed closer blows the save, they move him to left field and bring in a LOOGY to face the final batter. LOOGY gets the batter and becomes the pitcher of record.

Their team takes the lead.

Closer goes back to the mound from left field to start the next inning.

Gives up the lead again.

I don't think it would ever happen but I think it is possible.

On the other hand the rules forbid a pitcher from getting both the win and the save.

He was our best pitcher as recently as the first two months of last season.

So I wouldn't say it's impossible to get back there. Don't ask me what he has to do to do it though.

Hmmm....very good question.

For that matter, if the starter moves to left field with two outs in the 5th while a loogy is brought in to get one batter, can he get the win? Say he goes the whole game and pitches 8.2 innings? Or do you give the win to the LOOGY and the save to the starter (for going at least 3 innings and finishing the game and preserving the lead)??

It's always temporary with Jimenez, though. Consistency just isn't in his blood and if he is inclined to not listen to the coaches, then apparently he's not all that interested in improving that part of his game.

On a side note, really? We're going to delay this game in the bottom of the eighth?

He has to pitch five innings, it doesn't say they have to be continuous.
