Tanner Scott pitched two scoreless innings. He struck out two and walked one. He is the Orioles Hangout MiLB player of the day.

(17-32) Tides [AAA] Lost 4 to 0

Ian Locke

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got a great start from Chad Green and limited the Tides to four hits in a 4-0 win over Norfolk in front of 7,160 fans Friday night at Harbor Park.

Green (4-3) was tremendous as he held the Tides to four singles over a season-high seven innings of work. He struck out six and walked a pair, retiring 13 of the final 14 batters he faced as he lowered his ERA to 1.26 through nine starts this year. He combined with Johnny Barbato on the shutout victory, Norfolk?s league-leading ninth of the season.

Odrisamer Despaigne (1-6) took the loss after yielding three runs on six hits over three-plus innings. He walked one and struck out four but needed 74 pitches to navigate his three frames of work.

The Tides have now scored a total of 16 runs through Despaigne?s 10 starts this season, with Norfolk being shutout four times in his outings.

Mike Yastrzemski singled in the contest, upping his hitting streak to six games. He?s now batted .390 (16-41) over his first 11 games at the Triple-A level.

Ben Gamel had three hits to pace Scranton?s 12-hit attack, including a two-run homer in the third inning.

(18-28) Baysox [AA] Lost 6 to 1

Matt Wilson

Inconsistent hitting on the offensive side and control issues by the pitching staff continued to plague the Baysox as the team fell to Altoona, 6-1, in the series opener Friday night. The Baysox managed just five hits and grounded into three double plays, ending each rally before it had a chance to materialize.

Altoona wasted no time, scoring in the first inning. Harold Ramirez led off the game with a ground ball single to center field off Baysox starter David Hess. Erich Weiss then drew a walk but was put-out at second base when Austin Meadows reached on a fielder's choice that advanced Ramirez to third base. Ramirez then came home after a throwing error by Chance Sisco on a stolen base by Austin Meadows to give the Curve a 1-0 lead.

The Curve would strike again in the top of the fourth inning. For the fourth consecutive inning, Altoona had their lead-off man get a hit. Stetson Allie hit a lead-off home run to left-center field to give the Curve a 2-0 lead.

The Baysox finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth frame. Julio Borbon led off the inning with a double to right field off Altoona starter Cory Dickson. With one out, Chance Sisco was hit-by-a-pitch. Garabez Rosa then followed with a double to right field to bring home a run and cut the Altoona lead in half, 2-1.

David Hess was replaced by reliever Jon Keller in the top of the sixth inning. Keller hit Stetson Allie on his first pitch to lead off the inning. Barrett Barnes followed with a single to left field and a Chris Diaz sacrifice bunt moved both runners up one base. Ramirez followed suit with a single of his own to center field that brought two runs home. He moved to third base on the play after a dropped throw error from second baseman Jeff Kemp. Reliever Jayson Aquino made his first appearance out of the bullpen this year as he replaced Keller on the mound and surrendered a RBI single to Weiss that gave the Curve a 5-1 lead.

Altoona added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning. Jose Osuna hit a one-out single to center field and scored on a two-out Eric Wood double to center field to make the score 6-1.

Hess threw five innings and allowed two runs on five hits and five walks while striking out one in the loss. Keller recorded just one out in the sixth inning while allowing three runs on two hits and a hit batter. Aquino threw the final 3.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits while striking out four batters.

Dickson threw seven innings and allowed one run on five hits while striking out three and walking four in the win for the Curve.

(23-24) Keys [A+] Lost 3 to 1

Doug Raftery

Carolina scored three times on a trio of hits and an error in the sixth to defeat the Keys 3-1 at Five County Stadium on Friday night. The Keys left 10 on base and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position to halt their three-game winning streak.

In the sixth, Keys starter Lucas Long gave up a leadoff single to right to Ryan Gebhardt. Keith Curcio reached on an error by Erick Salcedo to place two on. After Joseph Odom struck out, Joey Meneses bounced a ball to Salcedo, who was unsuccessful in trying to get an out at third. With the bases loaded, Jordan Edgerton roped a ball down the third base line for a two-run double to score Gebhardt and Curcio. Braxton Davidson followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.

Frederick attacked first in the initial frame against Max Povse. Jay Gonzalez reached on an infield single and Salcedo bunted for a hit to put two on base. A wild pitch advanced both into scoring position. Aderlin Rodriguez entered the box with one out and grounded out to the shortstop to score Gonzalez. However, on the same play, Salcedo attempted to score from second base and was thrown out at home to end the inning.

The Keys had chances to add insurance. They knocked two hits in the second and third innings against Povse, but stranded five runners through three. Povse lasted five innings in the no-decision and struck out a career-high 10.

In the seventh, Frederick loaded the bases with two outs against Sean McLaughlin (3-2), but Rodriguez flied out to center to end the threat. Down to their final three outs, the Keys earned two walks versus Chase Johnson-Mullins, but Salcedo grounded into a game-ending double play to give Johnson-Mullins his sixth save.

Long (2-3) took the loss, although he tossed a quality start. In six innings, he gave up six hits, three runs (one earned), walked none, and struck out five.

(27-20) Shorebirds [A] Lost 8 to 5

Brendan Gulick

Delmarva banged out 12 base hits, but never held the lead on Friday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in a 8-5 loss to the Lakewood BlueClaws.

Ofelky Peralta's early erratic pitching put the Shorebirds in a bind from the get-go. Peralta (2-2) has typically been a steady force for the Shorebirds this season, but he allowed five runs on seven hits over just four innings and took his second loss of the season.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Ademar Rifaela gave Delmarva (27-20) an offensive spark with a 2-run homer to left field. Ricardo Andujar quickly added an RBI single, which tied the game at 3-3. But with momentum in their favor going to the third inning, the 'Birds gave two runs right back to Lakewood and never could climb back in.

Seven of the nine Lakewood (18-29) batters registered a hit, including three-hit games from Josh Tobias and Jose Pujols. Carlos Duran went 0-2 with three walks. Andujar, Rifaela, Yermin Mercedes and Austin Anderson all chalked up multi-hit nights for the Shorebirds.
