Royals looking to move Ventura on heels of brawl

I think there's a wee bit of difference between a PED user and someone who can't physically stop himself from assaulting others.

Everyone says he has a screw loose. Maybe he could be put on the restricted list to deal with his issues medically.

Absurd. Basically what you're saying here is that intangibles and character and values and maturity are worth nothing. Zilch. If you can get the ball reasonably near home plate at over 95 mph we just don't care if you're an execrable human being.

Also. The guy can't pitch. So there is that. Even with his skill set.

Nah, Manny already stood up for himself. I think it's over unless KC exacerbates this situation, and neither team would benefit from doing anything but letting it die down.

A punch to the face hardly makes up for a 99mph fastball to the mid-section, sorry. Nost deserves one of his better players thrown at for not standing up to Ventura. If nothing else, it will show how inept of a manager he is.

I think pretty much the entire KC team was disappointed and are exacerbated with his childish behavior. To me it spoke volumes that not one person from KC organization said a word about Manny. Pretty much all of baseball has condemned Ventura.

Plenty of reasons to not like Yost. But for me last night wasn't one of em.

Of course they're disappointed, their probably afraid of retaliation, which to me shows Yost has yet to say anything to Ventura.

The suggestions to trade for Ventura are ludicrous, imho. To give up on Dylan Bundy or Mancini or Wright ,etc. for this guy? Beyond ludicrous. Fortunately, it will never happen. I have seen enough of this kind of jerk. They never figure it out, they don't mature, they become a cancer on your team and they are soon out of baseball altogether. I wouldn't take him if KC gave him to us all salary paid.

We stood up to him. Doing anything more at this point wouldn't benefit the O's in any way, imo.

Have to believe warnings will be issued before the game to both teams.

Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, should the umps have issues a warning after the 2nd brushback pitch, and would that have changed anything?

yep. If they had I think so. The Ump would have tossed him before Manny started his charge, and the Catcher probably tackles Manny.

I would add this. The KC announcers last night pointed out (at least twice) that when Ventura came into the dugout, none of his teammates sat near him, talked to him or looked at him.

Had this exchange with a huge KC fan this afternoon. He was not impressed with Ventura's actions. I was shocked. My replies are in blue.

I'd give them the two guys we got for Matusz, or the equivalent of those two. But, no Bundy, no Mancini, no Sisco. No way I'd trade them a highly rated prospect. If I were able to get him, I'd start him in Norfolk and tell him his call up depends on performance and attitude on the field and than be true to my word. I actually think this clubhouse could easily handle an abashed Ventura. The current version in unacceptable.

I love this forum but man it's a waste of time. Some of the propopsed trades on here aren't realistic. You wouldn't give up a major prospect for a starting pitcher under team control who throws 99?

I'm not sure if I make the trade but if KC trades him they will get top prospects for him. That's what Ventura is - a top prospect who has won a game in the WSeries.

You really don't think Yost (or other Royals) had a stern talking to with Ventura after the game last night? It's a 100% certainty that they did.

I would not want Ventura for free. Other than to trade him. Tommy Hunter was a top prospect that won a game in the World Series.

In a vacuum I'd love to have him. Before last night? Yes!

But, there's no way you can trade for this guy and tell Manny to be cool with it. Manny is the franchise player. You don't piss him off.

Who is a head case that his own teammates can't stand. Price reflects that reality.

    • But again, nothing you say here changes anything. This team is going to be built from within. They are not going to try to build any other way…and they are right about that. This doesn’t mean they don’t need to spend but again, those guys will supplement the roster. And don’t think they won’t talk about how they added guys at the deadline for 2025. That they are “like free agent signings”.
    • It was the holder, not the kicker.  Jackson may not be perfect, but he's far from the problem this year. He's got a fumbling issue that may at some point cost this team a game or two, but there is no doubt he's playing some good football right now.
    • Yeah I'm surprised that Cleveland has been this bad. They were good last season.
    • Gunnar also signed a one year contract.
    • The when is really two questions.  One is when do the O's stop being handicapped by the risk-averse mindset that's governed their behavior since 2018, and the second is when does a 74 year-old billionaire tire of being told he has to wait a little longer because Jackson Holliday needs to further refine his new toe-tap?  Oh, and we also need to nail down a position for Coby Mayo, and so on.  No question?  I think the questions are numerous and many of them pretty important, and because they're so important, I think we'll start seeing a change in approach beginning this offseason.  I certainly hope so. Nothing I've said disputes the need for internal development or diminishes the role our current core of young players - some of whom haven't exactly made a seamless transition - will need to play for sustained success.  Nor is it a call for stupid FA spending.  It very much is an argument that time needs to be thought of differently now that two very successful regular seasons are behind the O's and the huge impediment of Angelos ownership is no longer a factor.
    • If he wants to join Hyde’s staff in some capacity, I’d be fine with that. Or are you actually talking about him being on the team as a player?
    • So why would you have sought payment if you were owner as you previously stated?  Since you are not known for being litigious and all? Also as I am sure you’re already aware the media exclusivity rights in Vegas are already shared by 6 major league teams. Which clearly was not the situation in DC as the territory was expressly the territory of the Baltimore Orioles.
