Don Larsen. I remember Casey had him pinch-hit in the 9th inning of a 1956 game vs the O's. Don Ferrarese had a no-hitter through 8 innings, ruined by a

lead off infield single by Andy Carey in the bottom of the ninth. Larsen was sent up to pinch hit and fouled out. Ferrarese & the O's held on for a 1-0 win.

GCL, I was talking about Don Drysdale. He batted .300 alot and pinch hit in games he didn't pitch. He also led the Dodgers in batting one year. Didn't know that about Don Larson. Thanks. Interesting to note that we have already used Gallardo to pinch hit this season.

I noticed Kim closes his eyes like that all the time. Usually results in strike three but not always. How can he possibly hit like that?

Have you ever noticed catchers' eyes closed when batter swings and before ball hits glove? Same deal - can't tell by this pic but it happens.

I have noticed Wieters doing that on backswings, yes. But that makes a bit more sense, you are not trying to hit a small object and you have a bat coming toward your head. I haven't seen it as much with hitters but Kim seems to do it a lot. Most swings when they do super slo mo you can see the hitters eyes locked in on the ball.
