I like Hunter. This is basically what we wanted to do with Chaz Roe. Both are out of options. So wait till the last week of August to call them up. We just got desperate a few weeks ago and went to Roe. Then we needed fresh arms and see ya Chaz Roe.

It's funny. The same thing happened to Hunter last year. He had no options so got released around the end of July. With the way we need a "b" squad bullpen to eat innings, you better have options if you're in the 6th and 7th spots.

Hunter didn't get released. He got traded to the Cubs.

I probably would have used Brach instead of Hunter in the ninth. Yes we were trailing but there's an off day Thursday and the odds of both the next two games being as close as 3-1 in the late innings seem pretty low.

Buck is really good about playing the number and "leverage" situations with the pen. Which should show everyone that someone so into the numbers and trends of the game, wouldn't have a team full of guys that don't like walking. That's on DD and the team construction.

I'm sure Buck would like a more patient lineup, but good teams don't have to walk a lot. Or have to do anything else in particular other than be better than their opponents somehow. The Royals are 2x reigning AL champs and were last in the league in walks both times.

That was nice of them, so he is eligible for the playoffs against a competitor and can face them in the playoffs.

Ive seen this before, but only from non playoff teams

The O's did this for Chris Gomez years ago. He ended up being claimed on waivers by the same Cleveland Indians.
