Roch today on possible Granderson for Brach deal. Whether or not it happens, I really like the thinking behind it. Sell high on Brach coming off a career year without giving up a core player for our window or a long term asset. Brach makes a ton of sense if we can get a C or OF where we are week.

All of this further illustrates how teams are eager to raid the Orioles’ bullpen. Manager Buck Showalter talked about it last week, singling out Brach as a reliever who will bring tremendous appeal to teams in the market for a closer and unable to secure Aroldis Chapman or Kenley Jansen.

Former Nationals closer Mark Melancon is off the board after agreeing to terms with the Giants on a four-year, $62 million contract. Brach will make $2.9 million next season if MLBTradeRumors.com is accurate with its arbitration projection.

Brach isn’t a proven major league closer with only three saves, but he’s posted ERAs of 3.19, 3.18, 2.72 and 2.05 over the past four seasons - the last three with the Orioles - while compiling a 23-8 record.

Brach is the big trade chip.  The Orioles need to wait out Jansen and Chapman and then go talk to the loser (Dodgers?).

Then ask for Billinger+.

Realistically I think Britton is only traded in season if the Orioles are out of contention.  That's the only way you get the prospects that he is worth.

Well, we just found out Brach's value. The Red Sox just traded an established major leaguer, thier 12th and 22nd ranked prospects for Tyler Thornburg, who is very similar to Brach.

Reliever values are nuts, and if the Orioles don't take advantage of that fact given their depth they arent really doing a good job.
