Rickard has reached safely 4 times in 8 plate appearances in his first 2 Major League games of the 2018 season.

He also made an excellent defensive play in yesterday's loss to the Tigers.

Per Roch and every other "beat writer," Rickard was just optioned back to Norfolk. Trumbo will take his spot, Sardinas will be DL'ed and Vielma will come up.

DD/Buck felt we did not have enough 1B/DH types on the roster and thought we could spare an athletic outfielder who might be able to hit a little since our roster is overloaded with those types.

This is not surprising. He HAS an option, and can be sent down without potentially losing him. It's the smarter move.
