If he got us the equivalent of Derek Lowe and a replacement level SS/3B for Brach, that would be just fine with me. Bring in Lance Lynn and I think you do have a contender.

Slocumb to SEA in 1997.  DD burned SEA again.  He's been doing that for years(except Miley.)  

Slocumb had a 4.97 over his 1.5 years in SEA.  Then we gave him a job in 1999.  

Lowe made his debut with SEA/BOS in 1997.  Was a failed SP that had a sinker(sound familiar) and was converted to closer.  In 2000 he was an AS and led the league with 42 saves.   Lowe was the #70 prospect in MLB in 93' and #64 in 94'. 

Varitek was the #51 prospect in 96'.  

Both were 24-25 at the time and former top 100 guys.  Looking like "failed" prospects.
