Tejada and Gentry are probably outrighted to Norfolk if the pass through waivers.  The O's will be paying them if they are not claimed.

Here are the moves I see barring injuries,

Trumbo activated.  Gentry down.

Flaherty activated, Tejada down

Hardy activated. Flaherty optioned

Santander called up.   Bleier to optioned until  September 1st.

Hardy, Flaherty and Santander come off the 60 day DL  and are add the 40 man roster.  Tejada and Gentry come off the 40 man roster.   Third spot on the 40 man roster mean Verrett, Ynao or Nuno comes off he 40 man roster.

No way I'd option Bleier before Hart.

Here's how I see it.

Trumbo activated,  Rickard optioned until  September 1st.

Flaherty activated, Tejada DFA.

Hardy activated, Beckham optioned until  September 1st (could change if he continues to play well over the next 2 weeks).

Santander activated, Hart optioned until  September 1st.

Rickard being optioned is possible.

I just don't see Beckham going down.

Gentry is the first to go, he shouldn't be on a MLB roster at this point.  Why would Hardy get the nod over Beckham?  Hardy has been the 2nd worst player in the Majors with over 200PAs this year.  His power is gone, he doesn't walk, and he clogs the bases.

Hardy has gotten the nod though.

Gentry is still a much better defender than Rickard. And if they send Joey down for 2 weeks, they can keep both he and Gentry.

Why Hardy over Beckham? Because Buck has already informed Hardy that his starting role is secure when he comes off the DL. I hope Beckham keeps playing as he has the last two games, but there is always the chance that he will revert back to the guy Tampa Bay couldn't wait to get rid of.

He should not have missed that game ending pop up for Gausman.

That's a fact. That still pisses me off. What kind of a teammate is that. You have a chance to make the final out for a CG so and he just didn't have his heart in it.

If beck gets benched Buck is going to get a strongly worded email of disapproval. He better think twice.

Not sure if you're implying that taking players in the Rule 5 draft is somehow against an unwritten rule - but there are 10-15 teams doing it every single year, so looks like the dignity of the game may not be particularly high.

Not the implication at all, it was no secret that stashing him on the DL would be frowned upon and could come back to bite the O's. It was discussed on television during a ST game.

I think - and I'm no scout - that he projects as a Luke Scott in his hey-day (which was only a couple years, sadly) type of outfielder. Big left-handed power, won't embarrass in LF. I think he's got more upside than Luke did, but yeah.

Don't tell me that! I'm seeing a Bonds with better attitude, a smaller head and maybe a bit less speed. Could be wrong.

Really just a miscommunication between Tejada and Manny, on a play where they were in a bit of an unusual shift.     Not a great play by Tejada, but understandable in my view.

He was never busting his butt. Imo it was awful but ill check it again. For your pitcher, especially as a back up/fringe guy, I'd like to see him at least get there. Then again, if he takes out Manny he's the O's bartman.

If you can find video, let me know.    My recollection is that Manny was playing near the SS position, actually shaded towards 2B a little, but in on the edge of the infield grass.     Tejada was playing about where the 2B normally plays, at normal depth.   The ball was a bloop that was to the left of 2B and landed in the shallow OF.   In a standard alignment, it's a routine catch for the SS.    But Manny was playing in, and though he bolted after it immediately, he clearly couldn't get there.    Tejada initially thought it was going to be Manny's ball, and when Manny peeled off, Tejada couldn't get to it.   I think Tejada probably could have reached it if he'd been after it full bore from the get go, but he had Manny in his peripheral vision and hesitated just long enough where he couldn't reach it.    Not a great play, but I wouldn't characterize it as lack of hustle, in my opinion.

    • They also haven’t announced the times, yet.
    • Well, I don't like to predict things on message boards but my prediction is we will not acquire two pitchers with a better Zips projection than Kremer. I would be more surprised by two than I would be by zero.
    • You can’t ignore how he pitched against Detroit and the makeup of their roster. He has more value than even Suarez if that is who we end up playing.
    • So it is different from last year? Last year the games were something like 3:00, 4:30, 7:00, and 8:30.   Have they said it will be different this year???
    • Me too. Driving 4 hours to have a father daughter date. Can't wait!
    • The discussion about Cle vs NYY is interesting. The Os always struggle at Cle and their BP is awesome but the starters are meh and so is the offense. I prefer to play NY. Worse pen, doesn’t run as much.  Not a bunch of contact hitters.
    • Bautista, if he is back to his old self, would be a big addition. Dominguez and Soto have to improve the walk rate. They certainly have swing and miss, but at a significant cost. Cano can throw up in the zone and get misses, but he is used so often he is rarely sharp. He is used to induce ground balls, and the sinker is fairly effective when he is tired.  Akin, Webb and Coulombe are getting some swing and miss. They are all above average in swinging strike percentage, according to FanGraphs. MLB average is generally around 11.2% from year to year, and Akin (second on the Orioles behind Grayson 13.6) is at 13.2, Dominguez 12.4, Cano 12.2, Soto 12.9, Webb 11.8, Coulombe is 9.9 and Cionel 9.5. In fairness to Coulombe (11.8) and Webb (13.7), they are higher over the last three years. They have not been healthy for a fair amount of this season and pitched through some things that made those numbers dip, perhaps.  Bautista was 18% in the same period of 2022-2024. He would be 11th in MLB in 2024. No other Oriole is in the top 100 in MLB. Grayson Rodriguez is at #120. It should be noted that Andrew Walters is at 18.8, ranking 7th. He was our unsigned 18th round pick in 2022. All of that aside, I am not sure the pen is structured the same as in recent years. There may be some moves there. Or, perhaps it is like you wrote, and they focus on Soto and Dominguez making adjustments to having more command, decreasing the walks. Those two are getting a little expensive as well. I guess we’ll see.
