Meh, okay, sure.  Better than running Mike Wright out there every fifth day.  Can't argue with the $$ aspect.  I'd still rather trade Manny, Schoop, etc. and load up on young controllable players, but they are incapable of doing that.

Absolutely not. Gallardo was injured and threw 85. Cashner is healthy and throws 94. Flukey WAR last year or not, Cashner will be a more reliable pitcher than Gallardo. He won't be great, but he'll stay in games and 2 years is low risk. 

Decent signing for a team that desperately needs SOMEONE not named Mike Wright.

Yes. That is all you are on the hook for if he sucks. If he is good, your on the hook for 13M/Yr. I like a guy that bets on himself like that.
