I know it’s early in ST but what’s gone on so far with our 5th options isn’t looking good. The Castro injury is big. 

Will we make a swoop on the big 3?

Could we convince Lackey, Dickey or Peavy, not to retire?

Even Feldman or Hellickson on a milb would work. We spent all offseason talking up the three rule 5 guys because there was literally nothing else to talk about. I’d take Hellickson back at this point as the #5 and Feldman as the swing man. 

Bundy, Gausman, Cashner, Tillman, Hellickson

Brach, Givens, O’day, Castro, Wright, Bleier, Feldman

At least that looks like a staff that can give you MLB innings. If one of the SPs struggle you then have 4 guys that can go in LR. DFA Ynoa and the three rule 5 guys. They were good stories but we need innings. A guy like Feldman can give you 100+ IP out of the pen and as the 6th SP. 

If we’re going to have a one year window, at least don’t let the wheels fall off the wagon if Tillman doesn’t bounce back or the in house #5 options are terrible.
