Severino should get a full 1 WAR for tonight's game.

I think some of the reasons Jammer loves Severino are the same reasons why I also loved Melvin Mora. In 2003 when he briefly held the lead for batting average it felt like the first great moment

Kinda reminds me of Sandy Leon. Now Pedro is younger, but certainly signs point to him crashing back down, or becoming a huge outlier.

Hopefully he stays hitting well enough to be an attractive trade piece at the deadline.  Sell when the stock is high.

Yeah nothing in his minor league stats would indicate he is a good hitter.  But he has played well this year.  I will be rooting for him to keep it going while having realistic expectations going forward.

He had plenty of at bats in the minors and he never got anything going there.

Yeah like I said I hope he continues to keep hitting like he has but his prior stats do not point to it.  He could be the unicorn we have been looking for.

I don't think unicorns would make for very good baseball players. Not sure their horns would pass the strict MLB bat restrictions. :)

I'd guess that big spikes like Severino's would most frequently be with catchers - because of all of the demands of the position.  it might not be until later in their careers that they have the time to focus on significant changes to their hitting approach.

I want to hear it. If we can trade a catcher for a legit return, I'm all for it. We are in a rebuild and we did just draft AR after all.

With that said, I think he'd have to rake through July to net a serious return this year. Anything mediocre and the offers will be next to nothing. I think it's more likely that he'd get a better return if he can be good through the full season. We can always hope. (well, Drungo can't, but the rest of us can. :) )

760 OPS vs righties

Severino will probably start most games vs lefties.  Sisco will see his action vs righties.   Severino probably will play vs  running teams and as a defensive replacement late in games.  That s my guess.   Probably they will be the duo from now until Adley arrives in 2021.

The major problem with the current team is pitching.   Depending on who gets promoted from Bowie to Norfolk  in the 2nd half this season the pitching  could get better next season.  Not playoff better but player development better.

I agree that if some team is willing to over pay the O's have to listen to all offers.  But considering how many teams are going to be sellers in July the offers may not knock Elias over.

      It did look like they already have their game legs back--maybe in time to make that dream come true. I live in Brooklyn and it's going to be a challenge to hold my place and my lip in the sports bars over the next three days (unless I go to one filled with Mets fans who are just letting one screen tune into the game in the Bronx).

      Frustrating sure, but boring is not what I would I say. We do steal bases at times. I would like for us to play more small ball sometimes and it is frustrating to see us be so homerun happy. I think with Westy back, we will see a resurgence of timely hitting as that is very contagious.   We saw that at the beginning of the year. Amazing sight to see for sure. I think the most disheartening thing that really shocked me is the apathy and outright disgust I’ve seen from O’s fans toward their team. Perhaps we have been spoiled? No idea. Maybe expectations were too high? No idea, but frankly, a lot of yall focusing on other things and simply not watching/posting would make next season a lot more enjoyable. This is the first time since 96-97 where we make the playoffs in back to back years and you guys have been acting like some real lame jerks this whole dang season. Frankly, yall should be ashamed of yourselves. We are an incredibly young team and with that come highs and lows, but yall don’t see that. You just love to complain and moan and bloviate. Where’s the heart? Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the gratitude? You’d think with all this team has overcome, especially being so young, y’all would be happy, but no. So go off on your little bike rides or whatever. Go watch a movie if this saga seems boring to you. I don’t care. Just for once this season, keep your immense negativity to yourself.

      Really an amazing run, 4 straight years. I completely agree with the ranking, too. There's no way Kjerstad is still a prospect though, right? 45 days is the cutoff and he's played in 48 games.
