He’s the best around as far as I’m concerned. He and Thorne are the best duo in baseball

Palmer appeared by phone on Wall to Wall Baseball today, talking about the Astros scandal and the possible changes in playoff format.    As to the former, he said if he were an Astros player, he not only wouldn’t wear his World Series ring, he’d store it in the back of his underwear drawer.    During the commercial break, Jim Duquette (who was on the show) tweeted that quote and apparently it was quickly retweeted by some major news outlets.   https://mobile.twitter.com/Jim_Duquette/status/1231264683858022402?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet

On the latter, Palmer was in favor of making the wild card series 2 out of 3 but didn’t like expanding to 7 teams per league.

Jim Hunter will be the Oriole Dugout Cheerleader. When he shakes a pom pom watch out.Him and the Bird seventh inning stretch will be amazing.

I have heard he is going to be doing mostly the digital side. But not sure if he is real happy with this.He really is a very nice person .

He has to be devastated.

He went from basically calling every game to this.

I heard the survey was very tough on him.

Yeah. At least they used the survey and didn’t just ignore it.

I wonder if they considered having him doing some games instead of what he is doing now. This isn’t exactly being eased out. This isn’t a demotion to me,  he is basically already out the door

Pure speculation on my part but I wonder how much the Orioles relationship with 105.7 played into all of this. Garceau is leaving his show and will be doing 52 games plus some pre and post. Curious how all of this came about.

My supposition is that this is a try-out year and they’ll thin the herd next year.   Also, they’re easing a few people out gently without completely cutting them out.   It’s also possible that Thorne and/or Palmer have told them they don’t plan to do this much longer or will be ramping down in the near future, so they’re getting prepared with these try-outs.

I heard Geoff Arnold a little bit today on the radio broadcast being interviewed by Melewski, and he seemed polished and had a good voice.

Thorn is 70, Palmer 74.  Like it or not you have to start planning their replacement.

Jim just had major back surgery...but he's going to be ready for opening day. He's a warrior. The last of the great Orioles from the great teams still bleeding Orange and Black, and I for one am relieved he's back for as long as he can go.He's still one of the best baseball analysts alive.

Brooks says hello.

Roy is the biggest Brooks fan their is.

He said with the caveat of still bleeding Orange and Black.  Palmer's with this team every year.  Brooks hasn't been.  And that's ok, it's not a slam on Brooks.  But Palmer's ties to the organization as it stands currently and for the past 10-15 years is what Roy meant, IMO.

Hunter's performance, or lack thereof, was responsible.  He should look in the mirror.  And for a guy who bizarrely blamed umpires for their faults over two decades, and also suggested poorly performing umpires should be sent to the minors, it is poetic justice that he has been benched as well.

I feel a bit sorry for him, but he’s had a 23-year run and given the long-time general opinion of his TV play by play, I’m glad the team is finally trying someone else.

I feel bad for Hunter as a person getting such a demotion, but as a viewer/listener I’m really glad they made this change. His enthusiasm was admirable but often ill-advised, like the little kid sitting next to you that freaks out over a late solo home run in a lopsided blowout loss. I swear you could almost hear Palmer rolling his eyes sometimes when they shared the booth.

He will get a job somewhere else after this year. He had announced college basketball also.He was told late about all the changes.

Hunter, who has been with the team since 1997 and last year served as the lead radio announcer and backup television broadcaster, is being moved to a new role with the broadcast. He declined to comment on the change.
