Doctors are prescribing large quantities of  Chloroquine for themselves and family members who are infected.

Unlikely.  I know someone who checked on its availability early last week and it was sold out everywhere, even to doctors.

Someone bout it up very quickly (like before the news broke on it) or the FDA but a freeze on sales.

Israel has donated 6 million doses to the US.  Two pharmaceutical labs are in production now.

A week ago, New York state had 87 detected coronavirus cases per 1m citizens Here's where a lot of Southern states are *today*... the number of *detected* cases. LA: 298 per 1m MS: 107 per 1m TN: 98 per 1m GA: 98 per 1m AR: 72 per 1m FL: 66 per 1m SC: 59 per 1m AL: 44 per 1m

Other than Louisiana, which has really ramped up its testing, a lot of those states may be about a week behind the curve in New York in terms of both social distancing *and* testing/case-detection.

And they generally have much worse testing. Georgia has conducted only about 1/3 as many tests per capita as the country overall, for instance.

And Atlanta is running out of beds.

“While there are still beds available ... our ICU units are at capacity. This is why we have gone a step further in Atlanta and asked people to please stay home,” she added.

Yes,Also the GE -Ford ventilator project will take time. Training, revamping a production line ,etc. Ford says the ventilators won't really be ready in full till around June.

That's fast, considering the reported complexity of making ventilators. The sooner the better.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (subscription link), MLB is going to grant a full year of service time to all players who remain active throughout the upcoming campaign, no matter how many games are played. That could obviously have an impact on teams’ decisions to promote their prospects if a 2020 season takes place, not to mention the effect on upcoming free-agent classes. It’s no doubt welcome news for someone like all-world Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, a contract-year player who needs 102 more days of service time to reach the open market. Considering the current circumstances, neither Betts nor anyone else may be in position to accrue 102 days this year.

In the event of a coronavirus-forced worst-case scenario that would rob us of baseball in 2020, how would the sport proceed with respect to service time? That’s unclear right now...

....The United States is amid a national emergency, thus giving commissioner Rob Manfred the right to withhold players’ salaries. But the league’s not doing that as of now. Rather, it offered a lump-sum advance of over $150MM (more than $125K per 40-man roster player) during earlier talks with the union, Rosenthal relays. However, the parties are still trying to hammer out an agreement that works for the two of them.

Got to wonder what happens if the season does get severely shortened or cancelled.  Obviously a team like Dodgers who traded a lot of q year of Mookie are going to what some reparations.

As my father tells me, it's good to want things, builds character.

I would not trust anything China tells us, they hid this, and they have underreported the numbers, so why believe this?
