#50THANNIVERSARY

On this day in 1970 the Baltimore Orioles swept the Cleveland Indians TO improve their season record to 3-0.

The Birds won by a score of 13-1 behind a third consecutive complete game effort.  Tom Phoebus allowed just 2 hits while walking 4 and striking out 4.  He helped his own cause by going 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI.  The lone run Phoebus allowed was on a 9th inning homerun off of the bat of Vada Pinson.

Paul Blair went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored while Don Buford homered twice (5 RBI on the day) and Boog Powell and Davey Johnson each hit homeruns as well.
