Weird, the Orioles and Yankees online schedules now shows off-days for both teams on August 3rd and 4th. Obviously, next week's schedule has not be announced yet.

They have to wait and see if the Marlins are able to go by then.   A lot of pla ying by ear.

I wonder if the clubhouse attendants were the vector by which it jumped from the Marlins visiting clubhouse to the Phillies home clubhouse.

Presumably the Phillies home and visiting clubhouse attendants have overlapping tasks that bring them together.

  • weams changed the title to Marlins ( and now Phillies) season(s) on pause, O's to host Yankees on Wednesday and Thursday

Why in the world were the Phillies holding team practices?

Wasn't the reason they weren't playing due to fears that someone was going to test positive?

Wasn't it obvious that if someone did test positive that practicing would cut their isolation days back down to zero?

With the Marlins snd Phillies dropping out for 3 games or more (which is like missing 8 games in a regular season), players certainly getting more anxious, and little good news likely to follow, can we just please put an end to this season already? They tried; it hasn’t worked. Just pull the plug and we all hibernate and hope for better things to come in 2021.

Well, no.  Probably not.  Even though they should.

IMO, it's just going to get to a point where it's a cluster#$@&, too many teams having to postpone games and...how do you go about making it all up?  60 games in 66 days is a stretch as it is but then factor in all the postponed games that are going to happen, it's going to add up to a logistical nightmare.

How has it not worked? One team was irresponsible and as of now we have 2 others that have tested positive. This isn’t some crazy widespread thing. Let’s relax and let this play out, more players are wearing masks, as they should and hopefully will be more responsible.

The Blue Jays should probably just play the Nationals another three games this weekend since they both are off.

It’s tough because the Nationals are playing as if they have the weekend off.  Scherzer went longer last night than he would have if he had to stay on five days rest.  Their pitching Rainey again tonight.  Probably wouldn’t if they had games this weekend.  But competitive integrity has already been thrown out the window, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Aside from artificial crowd sounds, starting a runner on 2nd in extra innings, where more than half the teams make the playoffs, and the home run champ might hit all of 20 bombs? Yeah, I guess it’s been just fine.

Now you’re moving the goal posts. All of these rule changes make sense given the situation (except the home run complaint which is odd because counting stats always change year over year and really who cares what the home run total is as long as it is proportional to the amount of games played (unless of course you’re in the crowd that thinks the league is too Home run dependent, which it may well be))

Me, I’m disappointed that it took so long but thrilled there has been baseball on TV. It seems you would prefer there not to be, are in some way done with baseball, at least in its current state. If that’s the case, why spend time on a baseball message board?
