Actually, I’ve never liked the anthem before a game. Smacks of jingoism. 
I would love to have 20 seconds of true silence, during which everybody on the field and in the stands reflects on the privileges and responsibilities we have as Americans. I don’t think we could ever have 20 seconds of true silence, but can you imagine how magical it would be if we could actually get that?
30,000 people, all agreeing to be silent and still for 20 seconds. I think that would be incredibly beautiful.
