Why on earth does it seem like these amazing acrobatic plays always get made against our hitters? From the Buck days to now, we get so many “web gems” made against us. Is there any reason behind it? Maybe our hitters are just not quite good enough to hit it where they ain’t? Or just bad luck?

Either way, I smell a sweep coming this weekend at the hands of NYY to drive in the dagger?

Because our OF defense has been so bad for so many years, it really does only happen to us rather than by us. Think of the RF's we have had... Cruz, Trumbo, Delmon, Mancini.  Santander is the best we've had in a while but I don't think he gets to it. You have to go back to Markakis but even he doesn't catch that ball 50% of the time, especially Late Markakis.

And it wasn't just our RFers. Jones was not a highlight reel in CF and our LFs have been...who exactly?

There was a time (early 90's in particular) when the Os were the highlight reel outfield team. We just haven't had a ton of athleticism out there over the last few years. These plays should be happening more often.

That catch by Conforto. Should Alberto have bunted in the 6th?  Sisco’s baserunning error. Should Holaday have came into catch when we were up 6-1.

Blowing the 6-1 lead was a team effort though.

The catch by Conforto was a major difference-maker, but so was the catch by McNeil on Iglesias' ball leading off the inning.  If that ball dropped in, Iglesias would have scored as the result of the subsequent walk and two hit batters, and then Ruiz' ball would have produced another run, since it would only be the second out and Nunez would have scored easily from third.  McNeil's catch saved at least two runs for the Mets.

Alberto never batted in the 6th, so he couldn't have bunted in that inning.

The Orioles couldn't have brought Holaday in when they were leading by 6-1, because they never led by that margin.  They led by 5-1 and 6-3.
