In the minority here but I think RMC should be run out there until May or so. Maybe not every day. This inning is on his back and so was yesterday. This year isn’t about winning it’s about learning so let’s learn and know for sure.

On the Cordero base hit, it looked as if MC initially ran back towards the track, even though he was already playing deep, and then turned and ran back in. If he hadnt taken those few steps in the wrong direction, it looks as if he could have caught the ball. I’m not sure, and I don’t know what SOP is on a ball like this, but it does look like his route made the difference between catching and playing on a hop.

He seems be struggling so far this year, though.

If you look at his statcast info from last year it was pretty awful. He covers some of the least amount of ground out there and he has plus speed when on the way. this year his catch expectancy is beyond awful and it didn't get helped out by today.

Good news about Mountcastle is his problems look like something that can be solved with experience.

Mountcastle took a bad route, but that ball falls in on most fielders. It would have been a tough catch for a great outfielder.
