Arguably. the main reason he hasn’t been promoted to AAA yet is that the O’s will want to justify starting him in AAA next year by saying he hasn’t had much time there. But, he was also ice cold until about a week ago, and that made it easier to justify the status quo. Now Rutschman is making it hard again. I think the same thing applies to Grayson too.

When he hit it, there was a feeling of happiness and slight terror. He smoked that ball though. Now that would be a dent you'd never have fixed!

So then he won't be up until June since the season doesn't start until May. Waiting until June is just ridiculous

Waiting until June is just ridiculous This MiL season was delayed until May due to uncertainly about COVID. So far as I know, that change isn't permanent. The MiL season usually starts about a week after the major league season. I assume that's the plan for next year, unless MLB decided that they really liked that delay for some reason (which I doubt). Nobody outside this message board will be any the wiser. 1

I’m surprised at how natural he looks out there, considering it’s not his primary position. Yeah, I thought the same thing. For a guy with limited experience there before this year, he looks like a plus defender at 1B.

So how do the O's have Mountcastle, Mancini and Adley on the same team next season, if Adley needs to spend time at 1B to keep his bat fresh? I think Mancini ends up dealt either in the next few days or the offseason. But if they are, it would mean more LF time for Mountcastle. Stewart looks like a goner as well. I hate to think of Mancini being traded but Adley playing well at 1B seems to put the issue front and center. Adley's bat is too good to sit when he needs time away from catching and DHing him means they lose the DH if he has to go behind the plate mid game. That's exactly the issue with building around a RH DH/1B. You take up that spot and then you have zero flexibility to move people around. I just don't see how we keep Mancini. It's bad enough that we have DJ Stewart playing in the outfield.
