Explain to me why Baltimore can not compete with those markets on an annual basis to be among the Top 10 in spending, inclusive of occasional leaps (like 2009) into the Top 5?

The Baltimore Metro (Baltimore City, County, Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll, Harford) is among the most affluent areas of the country, in terms of median income, and education.

- The Baltimore area’s per capita income of $41,320 in 2005 came in eighth among top metro regions.

- Among the region’s residents, 13.8% have advanced education degrees, ranking Baltimore fifth in the nation behind Washington with 21.3 %.

- The region ranked first in income growth between 2000 and 2005 among the nation’s top metropolitan areas, with a 24.1 percent increase.

MASN provides a steady, and increasing source of income…. It is exactly right, it will take money to make money…

Those stats are very nice. Ultimately though, Baltimore is a mid market team as the area ranks 18th or so. There is not a great corporate presence here.

MASN will never be YES or NESN in terms of revenue.

We'd all love to think the Orioles can spend with anybody, but its just not realistic.
