Last 20 games Scott had sub 2 ERA. 30 K’s, 10 walks in 19 innings.

Scott is a known quantity and that quantity is “undependable.” On a contender he would not have a place at all. It seems this game was lost by the defense but Scott was Scott.

Scott could be a piece on a contender but not a closer. 
 

The play should have been made but to me the inning was on Scott. He needs to be better.

Some guys are not good but Scott is the poster child for great or awful.

I would use anyone over him in a high-leverage spot.

however, as I said, this one was on the defense.

Postgame, Ryan said it’s a tough play and he called it late. 
 

He said in dome you can’t take your eye off ball or you will lose it and he didn’t see Valaika. You can’t put your head down and run there. Have to hear there.

I completely get it. I just wonder why Scott wasn’t used in the 8th and Fry in the 9th of Wells wasn’t available.
