The play I was awed by was Wynns' scooting over on his knees to block a curveball in the dirt, then throwing a straight bullet down to Jones, who made a lightning-quick tag on Lowe trying to take 2nd base. The block and getting up to grab the ball from the ground and throw required Wynns to move two and a half steps away from behind the plate, but his throw was so fast and sharp that he caught the runner anyway. Ben McDonald cooed that Wynns can catch 'n throw as well as anyone in the big leagues. Hyperbole, for sure, but a sign of how impressive a play it was.
