While I don't think Harvey is likely to turn into anything at this point I do wonder if the O's needed to remove him from the 40 man.

Agree. Harvey seems like a better bet than the vast majority of rule 5 picks. Maybe the Orioles’ knowledge of his health played a big role in decision.

Bizarre move, tons of guys that I would have removed from the 40-man roster before Harvey. Not arbitration eligible so it doesn't even save any money.

Yeah I don’t understand this move at all. All he needed to do was stay healthy. Granted he never was able to do so but this will likely prove to be a mistake. Damn.

Wow, that is shocking. I wonder if he did something to get in the dog house. What a bummer. I guess he is officially a bust as far as the Orioles are concerned.

At this point I'm not even sure he'd be a force if he could stay healthy.

The move seems odd but I'm not upset to lose him.

Honestly I was more upset when Pop wasn't protected last offseason.

Well Pop didn’t have much success with the Marlins, but you’re right. I just like the Giants and think they have the ability to see great value with players other teams seem to give up on. Time will tell of course.

I know Harvey is a long shot to stay healthy, but he is a player worth protecting on the 40 man roster. There are plenty of other players that could have been exposed to waivers before Harvey. I'm going to be sick if Harvey manages to pitch 60 innings next year and dominate.
