Very positive write ups, but I’ve found this outlet to always err on the side of positivity. Top 5 reports are free, but you have to pay 5 bucks to see 6-30.

There were a couple of tidbits in the top five write ups I found interesting.

Hall: “Elite fastball command, can throw it for a strike in any count.”

Cowser: “Above average raw power with his max exit velocities sitting in the >108 region. Surefire power projection in the frame and data, a few tweaks could unlock above-average slugging.”

Henderson: “Owns the inner half of the plate, looks to turn on anything inside. Does an excellent job of tapping into pull-side juice.”

I think of Hall as a guy who has occasional command problems, Cowser as a guy with an elite hit tool and strike zone command but only average power, and many people have noted that Henderson hit a lot of opposite field homers.   So, it’s nice to hear another side of all that. 

On Hall, they do say he’s “prone to stretches where he loses command of offspeed pitches and has to rely on his fastball, making the job of hitters easier.”   But it’s stiill the first time I’ve read that his fastball command is “elite.”   If so, that’s a nice fallback to have.   

On Cowser, they do note that he “lacks the home run power you’d expect from a top college bat. Doesn’t look to drive the ball. This is an area the Orioles plan to address but it still remains to be seen if it will yield results.”   But, it’s good to know the tools are there for more power.   And if he turns out to be “only” Nick Markakis with a bit more range, I’ll take it.

Agreed, the reports were interesting to read and I’m hoping prove more true than false!

If Halls fastball command was elite I doubt he would have the walk totals he has.  I can buy into what they say about Cowser.   The report on Henderson is possible but call me skeptical.

This was my first thought, and there is probably some truth in it. However, the development plan for all current pitchers is to work heavily on their secondaries in all counts. I doubt his FB command is "elite," but it is likely better than average. 

Cowser is supposed to have elite exit velo. He just needs to learn to hit the ball a little more in front. I think the part on Henderson is reasonable. He does drive the ball out to all parts of the park, though. I have seen video of his getting to the inside pitch very nicely, with an ability to keep the ball fair.

It's hard to find video of Henderson driving the ball in the air to RF.  EVERY homer I've seen is left of center.  Just saying.

There was a couple I saw. One, in particular, he hit a FB up and in over to right. I think it was later in the season. But I do remember many being to LF as well.

Yes. I saw the one at Delmarva.  Towering shot to right.

There are report after report after report about the top 6 in our system that are just gushing with praise. And that doesn't count Kjerstad, the #1 pick this year or any of our international guys.

Its going to be an interesting season in the minor leagues with some of these scouting reports, thats for sure.
