If this season is anything like the last 3, many of our more valuable position players will be traded away for either "prospects" or cash before long.  Might as well keep the struggling young pitchers up to face ML hitters using the ML ball (whichever one is being used at the moment) and while they may continue struggling, we wouldn't be winning anyway.  That seems to be the approach every season as long as we're not a contending team.  

I mean, if the last few seasons have taught me anything, it's that you have to enjoy watching a pesky team making crazy comebacks and always fighting til the last out and showing some solid hitting and some great defense and surprising pitching only until the trade deadline, and then just basically stop watching unless you want to see a random debut here or there.  

With Grayson likely not debuting this season, I can't think it will play out any differently.  And I have to remind myself of that and not get too carried away with any one player either being up or down.  Doesn't matter when you're going to crash in the second half anyway. 

I know, I know, horribly pessimistic, "spreading hate and discontent," but am I wrong?

I was thinking the same thing when he said "blech."

He's simply a triple A pitcher right now. You see flashes but it's inconsistent. The problem is they don't have anything better to throw out there right now so he'll have to take  his lumps in Baltimore for now.

With Means going down and Kremer getting hurt, Bradish wouldn't have gotten called up so fast. Zimmermann's lack of effectiveness certainly hurt and then Rodriguez is probably done for year. I'm not sure Zimmermann is a keeper or not, we'll see. Looks like Hall is working his way up, has better stuff than Bradish, but has to be able to command it or he'll be in same spot.

I dunno how you coach up a pitcher in order to increase fastball movement.  

I've always felt that fastball movement is either something a pitcher has or doesn't.  Kind of like a fingerprint, each pitcher's fastball movement is unique to them.   

I feel like his velocity is decent but the fastball is straight as an arrow and that's going to be a problem if it can't get fixed.

Interesting that the actual stats show Bradish with -12.9 drop and in the interview he said he had between -17 and -21.  Could it all be mechanical and he's just not getting the movement/action he had been getting?

Right?  Without recalling seeing it discussed in this thread already, I'm wondering what he's doing differently than when he had such success earlier in the season?

With today's bullpen day, if we were frisky and chose Wednesday finishing up the homestand with a Nationals game to introduce DL Hall, Bradish could get a couple extra days to the Saturday TBD on Day 5 after tomorrow's off day.

It might be fun to see Soto's reaction to Hall's pitches before we hit the road...

Saturday I suppose I wouldn't hate it if Bradish followed an opener Akin so we could see how that might work.
