Mancini trade market heating up? Orioles willing to deal Santander? Yankees and Mets?

So I am not against trading any of these players you mentioned but I am curious how we backfill 2 OF positions and our DH if Mancini, Santander and Mullins were all to be traded.  Stowers is ready for a chance, agreed, that is one OF position. Diaz? I want to see him but does he really deserve it? Do we think Cowser is ready to come up or will be ready next year? Or do we need to bring an OF back in one of these deals?

If Mullins is traded Hays moves to CF and Stowers comes up. If Santander is also traded then that does thin the OF ranks significantly but allows Diaz and maybe even Neustrom to get called up. I dont expect both to get traded unless the return is too good to pass up.

Stowers plays one position…Diaz can come up.  Also, Mateo gets time out there and Vavra as well.  McKenna as well.

I don't know.  I think trading one of Mancini / Santander in the next two weeks should be done, time to see Stowers.

I could be sold on trading Santander and Mancini if it means a cost controlled starter and some prospects come back.

I think trading Mullins right now totally punts this season and probably sets us back going into next season.  I would rather have him + Grod / Hall / Means back etc.  Lets see how Cowser and Kjerstad look between now and next deadline and if Stowers is producing and one of them is ready they deal Mullins.  He will still be a controllable asset with lots of value.

Right, I know there are some warm bodies that could fill the holes but I think those warm bodies deplete the lineup and punt this season.  Which I could deal with looking at the future.  I just don't see a great plan for next year unless we plan on signing someone.  We are penciling in Stowers like he is a top 50 prospect ready to take over the league, I want to see him but I don't think he is a guarantee by any means.  Cowser may be good but is he going to be ready next year?

How are your punting the season and setting back next season if by trading Mullins you are adding a TOR level starter and another guy who could start soon?

Mullins fWAR is .3 higher than Lopez.

I am saying I think trading Mullins, Santander and Mancini depletes our lineup resulting in punting.  I don't think we have enough guys ready to come up and fill those holes for offense or defense.

To be clear, I am not against trading any of these players individually I am looking at this as trading all 3 of these guys and bringing back prospects and cost controlled pitching.  If one of these trades resulted in bringing back a major league ready outfielder that would also be different.

Im also not in a rush to rebuild as the team is winning games now. As always it depends on whats being offered.

The rebuild is done…They would be trading ARB players close to free agency and surplus. You trade Mancini because he’s a free agent and you aren’t resigning him. Santander is traceable due to depth. You don’t shortcut the process in order to make a run at a wild card.

This is the real key in my mind. I'll trade anyone on the roster (probably minus Rutschman) if the return is right. The return has to be for a young player that we think will be successful from 2023 on for at least 4 years of controllability.

I don't think we're going to see Elias trade off guys for DSL lottery tickets anymore. Mancini does not need to be traded. If he brings back value, then great, but I don't see him getting moved for the sake of getting moved. Same for Santander.

Well that's the risk, right... and I agree that it's not some layup decision.

As always, it depends on the return. If you can get back something useful for Mancini, you trade him. If you can't (and you may not be able to), keep him & let him walk in a few months. Same with Mullins and/or Santander. Trading them to make room for Stowers/Diaz ... I don't think they'll do that.

But for the first time in lord knows how long, whatever they decide, I will trust the decision.

By getting rid of those guys, you can bring up everyone.  You don’t think we can replace their offense, which isn’t exactly off the charts, with guys like Westburg, Gunnar, Vavra and Stowers?

This is correct.  You don’t make a trade for sh!ts and giggles anymore.

But getting back real talent and, depending on who you trade, ML ready talent is worthwhile.
