You have already gamed the service time.  You are keeping those guys down until late April 2023, when you plan on contending?  
 

You want to field an inferior product for 3ish weeks to start 2023?

Overall, I think this team will continue to surprise.  Not sure we’ll be .500 or a WC but we’ve got a puncher’s chance at it (says Rougned).

I would like to see:

Bradish become the guy we hope he can be.  Minimize HR and walks.

Voth and Kremer continue doing their thing (I.e. validate this is who they are).

Mounty increase his OBP (the rest will follow).

Urias and Mateo figure out if they are good hitters or not.

Anyone else get playing time at 2B.  Vavra, Westburg, Urias…  Phillips? ;)

Who’s the next man up in the minors?  Meaning, keep stacking talent.  The pressure in the cooker is building and decisions about team build for 2023 and forward are coming.

Hall get some consistent command.  Would love to see some ML innings.

Gunnar and Cowser to keep putting up stats and on path for 2023.  I would love to see Westburg improve his OBP.

The class of 2022 knock the snot out of the ball!

If it lets us field a superior one for all of 2029, I think that's worth it.

You can field that team.  You are allowed to sign players to extensions.  In a year where you are contending and playoff spots come down to a game or 2 quite often, you don’t field an inferior product.

Get them up now and let them get their feet wet.

You certainly are allowed to sign players to extensions, but the players have to sign them, too. Also hasn't really been the Orioles MO, though I'd like to see them handing them out like Cleveland and Atlanta.

If you wanted to call them up right now and let them start getting their feet wet, I can't say I disagree, but if you wait too much longer I think the service time becomes more valuable. Ideally people we're counting on for next year should have been here in July, IMO

Yeah, I don’t think that will make sense from Elias’ point of view.  I do think it’s possible the O’s will wait until after August 23 (this year) to make some call-ups in order to preserve 2023 rookie status while still getting some 2022 major league experience.  The team is playing well right now so Elias may not feel a great sense of urgency to get players up here.   Also, this whole situation could look different in a few days.   We’ll see.

      It looks like I misread your post as being about last offseason instead of the 2017-2018 offseason.  My mistake, but does that in any way affect my overall point - you know the part that I made explicit and you left out of your response - that all the old, reflexive Angelosian nonsense no longer automatically applies? I'm unclear on what you're driving at, especially if I have to go back to the 2017-2018 offseason when Peter Angelos might still have been giving input on running the team.  I think it's a stretch to try to draw parallels to those days, or even the John Angelos years, to David Rubenstein potential as an owner.

      Irsay stealing the Colts in a midnight sneak away is in my top five depressing B-More moments, as well as the dreaded We Are Family Pirates in the ‘79 series. Otherwise, it’s a good bad list.

      I forgot the name of the movie, but Jimmy Fallon was playing a BoSox superfan (tough role for an NY kid) and it was during the era of the ‘curse’ (right at the end of it actually) — a kid he was coaching asked, “What have the Red Sox ever done for you?” His character didn’t have an answer. But it made me think. The movie was out during the 14-years of losing seasons. I asked myself the same question about whether a lifetime of fandom was worth it. For me, outside of my family - 15 generations or more on the Eastern Shore - the O’s are also part of my DNA.  Win, lose, lose horribly, lose ugly, bad ownership, they just can’t shake me. All that said, I totally understand the frustration. It will take me a little longer to heal from this ugly exit to 2024.

      In the market and $$$ for SP = Mets, Cubs, BOS, WAS and SFG (depending on Snell opt-out).  That’s enough chairs when music stops for Burnes and Fried to cash in, and still ample for second tier Eovaldi, Manea, Kikuchi, Flaherty.

      1) I feel like we could’ve used some veteran star power leadership  2) Money 💰…if need be get a switch hitter  3) I’m standing by sign Burnes …I anticipate 6 or 7 years … Fail or Fall? I expect him to disappoint … In addition to Burnes I’d be looking to extend Eflin  4) I think we have a number of guys leaving … we almost certainly have a pick for Santander and Burnes if Elias fails. I believe he makes Cionel, Cano, Dominquez , Coulombe and Soto better. If you want an upgrade then I guess you can trade some as depth   10)I think he likes to take shots on lottery tickets… I don’t think it’s out of the box for him. Holliday depends if your moving Mullins along.

      Just listened to it for the um first time. Not sure how anyone could um listen to that um entire uh press conference, um three uh times.
