He, like everybody else assumed the ball was gonna drop for one bounce. He already had a lead, so he was probably was already running thinking it was gonna be on one bounce. The original shot did not even show if it had hit ground or not. Ball pretty much died in his glove.

It was such a low hit ball, that SS could have just stepped back and it would have died and had one bounce. Glad he didn't. I don't think anyone in the park thought that would be anything but a weak line drive dropping from lack of velocity. I think Vlad was thinking, "oh, hell - he's gonna catch that - gotta get back."
