Orioles potential SP target: Chris Bassitt profile

I know he's been talked about in some other threads but thought I'd make it easy to discuss and share info about him.

In 2022, he used five offerings more than 10% of the time: sinker (33.4%), cutter (17.2%), slider (16.3%), curveball (13.9%) and four-seamer (13.1%). He also threw an occasional changeup (6.1%). The sinker yielded a 62.2% ground ball rate in 2022, while Bassitt can generate swings and misses with each of his other four primary pitches."

My take: I like the fact that he pitched over 180 innings last year and might be a real good innings eater. He's not the TOR the Orioles need, but I'd feel a lot better about the rotation if I could pencil him in as a #2 next spring.

Sounds like Scott Erickson to me with that sinker groundball rate. He had some decent years for us is the 90s….

Fits the Orioles style: fastballs up, high command, sinker and slider, lots of innings. 

We could do a lot worse. He kind of feels like a pretty good Means-level replacement.

He’s a good pitcher and I’d love to see the Orioles sign him. He would improve the staff and give the Orioles a much better chance to win than anyone they currently have in the rotation. I don’t think he’s enough to put them over the top but he would be a good signing.

It’s not real info. They are accounts that make stuff up to get followers. Even the video on Bassitt was intentionally misquoted in the tweet he shared. I wish this guy would stop posting these.

Not really interested in bringing Bundy back, but wouldn't mind Cueto as the second starter signed if it's a relatively low dollar one year deal. 

As to the Bassitt rumor, it all really stems from a Morosi comment.
