There’s nothing wrong with feeling that way.  Just be “clear” that you are speculating and don’t really know if that’s the case.  That seems like the tweet of a fan, not a reporter.  Unless he knows something.  If he does he should tell us.

I mean that’s fine but look at what they are doing, who owns the club and where he came from and how that organization operates and it’s not difficult to figure it out.

He’s the reporter.  Has he ever asked Elias if they would offer a FA more than 3 years?   Seems like a pretty easy question to ask instead of just saying it seems clear now.

All these threads and, sure, we need something to talk about... but it's so much easier to just assume the Orioles won't do anything big.  I long ago stopped trying to kick Lucy's ball.  If/when it actually ever happens it'll be a nice surprise.

He was injured last year but pretty dam good in 2021. If his Medicals say he’s healthy I’d do a year with an option. He’s better than what’s left beyond Rodon.

Hamels hasn’t been an effective pitcher since 2019 and he’s going to be 39 years old. I don’t mind if they take a flier on him, but not if he’s being pitched as being in the starting rotation opening day.

You need more than five starters these days and Hamels could be a guy that contributes in 2023, but he’s a long shot and not a sure thing by any measure.

And what do you think Elias would say?  Do you think he would give him a straight answer? He will probably say something like, we would never rule anything out and all options are on the table, blah blah blah.

Same thing you would probably hear from Houston even though they don’t do it either and has established that pattern for closing in on a decade.

When Peter was running the team,he was quoted as saying the Orioles would never go over three years on a pitcher after Ubaldo.

The #Orioles have checked out Lance Lynn, Andrew Cashner, Jason Vargas, Alex Cobb and Chris Tillman, among others. They appear content to wait in hopes of signing someone to a short-term deal. Peter Angelos hesitant to commit to 4-year deal after the Ubaldo Jimenez

Johnny Cueto on a one year contract would be just fine.  I’ll admit, my original feeling was that a Bassitt/Taillon signing and Pablo Lopez trade was the optimal way to go.  Or Gibson with an all-in offer to Rodon.

But I’ll accept two old geezers on one year contracts while Kremer, Bradish, Rodriguez, Wells, and Hall get another year of experience.
