Good points about Cano's projected usage. I just used the easy way and added his usage in from AAA like it was his usage by the Orioles through the first two weeks vs taking his Orioles usage and extrapolating it out over just the amount of games Cano has been with the Orioles this year. Yours is probably a more accurate assessment. Maybe someone can find a team where five relievers pitched in 70 or more games for a team, but it seems like the Orioles are on some kind of record usage. Whether that's by design (Some new technique fed by data), their abundance of close games, or Hyde's choice, or some variations of the three, it'd definitely seems like something new. -

As much as I enjoy trying to figure out what Elias will do based on what happened with the Astros, or what the Rays have and are doing, I think there are very different circumstances here. One, Luhnow was very aggressive in everything he did. I don't see what that trade tells us about an Elias preference. Two, it's been said that Sig was very much against trading prospects for established players and three, the Astros had intentions of paying big money to retain established guys. Trying to read tea leaves, or take wild guesses, I'd say something like the Rays trading Willy Adames for JP Feyereisen and Drew Rasumssen fits more what Elias will try to do. Or a different approach like a Hernaiz type for someone like Jordan Montgomery. Not trying to argue with your post, just my thoughts, I can't see Elias trading top 10 prospects for veterans but I could see him trading a top 10 player for someone he considers a top 10 prospect pitcher, regardless of the guys actual ranking with his organization. -
Perhaps that is part of the thinking, but again, unless there is an abundance of replacements, if they get hurt or wear down, it won't be a great strategy. Either way, there is simple solutions. In game where the team is up or down for or more runs, use bulk relievers to over down on most of the innings.

I still like to know the ERAs of the pitchers. Gibson (3.89) v. Peralta (4.62) Kremer (4.43) v. Burnes (3.75) Bradish (4.13) v. Rea (4.94) The Brewers have a pretty lame offense, ranking 14th in the NL in runs/game, 15th in OPS, 14th in OPS+. Behind their starters, their bullpen ranks 7th in the NL with a 4.11 ERA, almost exactly league average. They’ve done an excellent job of protecting leads, with a 75% save rate (15/20). By contrast, the O’s pen has a better ERA (3.41) but a worse save rate (19/33 = 58%). Against the AL East, the Brewers are 3-6, having gone 1-2 against each of Boston, Tampa Bay and Toronto. They started the season 18-9, then went 9-16, and most recently have gone 5-3. They’re 16-12 at home. Overall, it’s certainly a winnable series on paper. -
